A Fun New Project for Podcasters and Creatives

Giving shoutouts has been a mainstay segment on the Path of the Jedi podcast since the very early days. Most people don’t realize the how big an impact they make in the lives of the people around them and, through the resulting ripple effect, the larger community extending eventually to the rest of the world.

That’s why I love to celebrate people on the show – to shine a light on all the good you may not know you’re leaving in the world.

Because the world needs to see your good right now.

So, every episode I give a shoutout to someone who’s ripples have touched my life. And of course, I invite you to do that as well, to send me your Shoutouts to the people who have made a positive difference in your life.

Enter the Shoutout Community

Often, my shoutouts go to other podcasters, creators I’ve connected with on the socials who’s content I’ve enjoyed and who’s connection has made an impact.

And here’s the thing – EVERYONE is cool AF

There’s not a single Geek Culture podcaster that I haven’t been really glad to meet. All of them have brought an extra degree of joy into my life. Why wouldn’t I want more people to experience that?

So, that’s what the Shoutout Community is. It’s a community of podcasters who want others to see that there’s so much more to the world and to life than misery and pain and suffering.

I’m not ignoring that those things exist.

But, there is also call for celebration. There will always be a call for celebration. Without that counterbalance, what’s the point…

So, here’s what we’re doing…

Step One: LISTEN
Find me on BLUESKY.

This is the current home of the Shoutout Community – a growing list of geek culture and fandom podcasters and place to find and connect with them.

Just go to my Bluesky profile and there click on my “Lists” (as of this writing, it’s the last fo the tabs above my feed).

There, you’ll find a list called “Shoutout Community”. Click on that and voila – a list of podcasters and creators you can pursue to find your next great listen! Just follow that list and you’re off to the races.

Step Two: JOIN THE LIST
Once you’ve followed me and followed the Shoutout Community list, shoot me a message that you’d like to be added to the Community.

Step Three: GIVE A SHOUTOUT!
Once you find a podcast you like, give it a SHOUTOUT on your won show! Just a quick 30 second to a minute shoutout telling your listeners what you enjoy about that particular podcast.

That’s it.

It’s really a simple idea. And my hope is that the simplicity helps this idea catch on. Coz why not?

Help other creators grow their podcasts while growing your own. Plus, discover new content and make new friends along the way. It’s a win, win, win!

It’s still small right now, but I really believe the Shoutout Community will become something big. I believe we can grow a community where we celebrate, support, and help each other grow.
